Are headphones the new lullaby in vogue? We are entitled to wonder with the publication of a Ifop study on the sound practices of young people today.
Organized for the association La Semaine du son, the survey shows that children get used to falling asleep with headphones in their ears from an early age.
When growing up, listening to music is a well-established reflex that cannot be lost: 15% of children aged 7 to 12 and more than a third of adolescents report listening loudly with headphones or earphones. A rate that climbs to 34% among adolescents surveyed and aged 13 to 19 years.
On average, teens would use headphones or earphones for 2 hours a day, compared to 31 minutes for those under six.
Each year, the association la Semaine du son carries out an awareness campaign on good practices for preserving your hearing. In 2015, the event took place from January 19 to February 8, 2015. Among the recommendations, the experts stress the importance of limit listening time with the headset. “The Ministry of Health recommends […] to take a 30-minute break every two hours of listening or 10 minutes every 45 minutes “, recalls Luc Barthélémy, director of studies, Ipsos Public Affairs.
