IKEA is handing out gift cards to celebrate its 75th anniversary. This is stated in an email that many Dutch people have received. But watch out, this was not sent by the company itself!
IKEA is indeed celebrating its 75th anniversary from September 1 to December 31, 2018. All activities are therefore organized during this period, but they do not correspond to what is stated in this fake email. Radar has contacted IKEA Netherlands; the company has confirmed that the email is indeed fake.
If you clicked on the link in the email, you will be asked to answer three questions:
- “When was the last time you shopped at IKEA?”
- ‘Are you already a member of IKEA Family?’
- ‘Which IKEA products would you like to receive the 75th anniversary benefit for?’
If you have answered these questions, you will be asked to grab your ‘free chance’ by entering your gender, first and last name, date of birth and email address. Finally, you must accept the terms, but by doing so you agree that many companies may send your offers via email.
So watch out for this email and the associated spam!
