Apple pulled an iMac from its lineup this weekend. It is of course an older model, namely the 21.5-inch iMac.
Sometimes a product disappears from the Apple Store like magic. Usually, the American tech giant does this after a recent introduction of a new product. The time in between is used by the company to use up the stock of the old model. You see it happen with iPhone, iPad and also the Mac. In this case, we are also talking about a Mac.
The iMac that has disappeared from the Apple Store is the old 21.5 inch variant. You can probably still temporarily purchase these at various electronics stores. But via Apple it is over and out for this model. Not surprising, because the 21.-5 inch has not had an update and still had the old Intel chips. Apple is completely transitioning to an M1 offering.
There are still a few Macs available with an Intel chip, if you really want that. Including the 27-inch iMac variant. With the disappearance of the 21.5-inch iMac, there is no longer a ‘small’ model. The slip-on is at least 24-inches tall. That is the new iMac introduced earlier this year with those cheerful colors. Costs you at least 1,449 euros.
