Health applications are developing to support Internet users on a daily basis. A new one has just emerged and is able to detect theanemia with a simple selfie (self-portrait taken with a Smartphone).
Warning signs of anemia
The classic and usual symptoms of anemia are paleness of the skin, conjunctivae, shortness of breath during exertion, increased heart rate, fatigue, headache, dizziness and ringing in the ears.
Anemia when considered by a doctor, is detected by a blood test which measures the level of ferritin in the blood. This protein, which allows the storage of iron, reflects the state of our reserves.
Developed by Australian students, this new application called Eyenaemia diagnoses anemia simply through a selfie. This simple and non-invasive solution is accessible to everyone and can also be used in countries or areas poorly equipped with health and hospital structures.
The software comes with a color card used as a calibration tool. It is enough for the person to photograph himself by pulling on his lower eyelid. If this type of selfie is not flattering, it will allow you to take stock of your anemia. The application is able to determine depending on the color of the eye, the hemoglobin level of the patient. Once the diagnosis is established, the Internet user receives a report and a procedure to follow depending on his state of health.
a informative portal on this application exists and is available to Internet users who can already test this new tool. On the other hand, the application which won the prestigious 2014 Microsoft Imagine World Cup will not be available until the end of 2014 on the Windows Store.
