Android Auto on Smartphone is over! Google stops the mobile phone application to transfer its use to Google Assistant. However, its use on the car screen is still available.
In recent years, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications are part of the life of motorists. They make it possible to duplicate certain elements of the mobile phone on the vehicle screen. Since 2016, Google’s software has also made it possible to have specific driving functions on the smartphone (not all drivers are lucky enough to have a touch screen in their car, etc.). However, Android Auto is bound to disappear.
Google Assistant replaces Android Auto
This will of Google is not new: in 2019, the American firm had already announced its desire to stop Android Auto. This stop came to fruition two years later on the occasion of the deployment of the new Android 12 OS. However, Google would like to reassure its users: “ for those who use the experience on the phone, they will be transferred to the Google Assistant driving mode ». Thus, it will be launched as soon as a route in Google Maps is chosen. Voice control will then take priority to answer a call or launch a music application.
Android Auto still present in cars
However, this modification only concerns users of the software on smartphones. Indeed, Android Auto remains relevant in vehicles, as confirmed by Google: “ for people who use Android Auto in supported vehicles, this experience will not go away ”.
