By the end of the year, French policyholders should have access to a website allowing them to compare health establishments objectively. This is the promise made by the public agency on Wednesday September 25 during the presentation of its 2013-2016 strategic project.
“By the end of the year, we will set up a patient information site on the quality of care in health establishments”, said
Until now, this information was scattered over different sites and “we want to group them together to make them more readable on a single site that is much more practical, with geolocation and a possibility of comparison”, HAS college president Jean-Luc Harousseau told AFP.
According to him, the site will allow “to learn about the scores obtained by the establishments of a region, the results of the certification (issued by the HAS), the activities of the various establishments”.
The HAS also announced that it would take more account of the patient’s experience feedback in its certification procedure. The HAS will implement the “patient-tracer” method: the establishments and their functioning will be assessed from the patient files actually hospitalized in order to see the strengths and areas for improvement in the organization of care. It will also open a “quality account” per establishment, a single place for centralizing information on an establishment.
The economic dimension of health will now be taken into account by the HAS. The evaluations of health products, such as drugs, hitherto purely medical, will now include a medico-economic dimension: “Our goal is to say, for the service rendered by this drug or device, how much are we prepared to spend?” Jean-Luc Harousseau added to AFP.
