Nekoze means someone with a bent back (just like a cat) in Japanese. This is the name of a new application that offers us an easy solution to maintain good posture. A tool that is timely when you know that sitting too much poses many health risks. Among the dangers identified: lower life expectancy, a higher risk type 2 diabetes, and problems in the joints and back. What’s more, a recent study shows that sitting for more than six hours a day is particularly bad for women’s health, increasing their risk of developing certain cancers. To make matters worse, we all tend to adopt a bad posture after hours of sitting in front of the computer.
The nekoze app, free from the Apple Store, monitors our posture during the day, indicating when we start to slump in front of the screen. As soon as you are badly seated, a small cat appears on the screen. He changes his expressions according to our posture and starts meowing as soon as we bend the back.
If the meows become irritating to your colleagues we can always turn off the sound, and just keep the cat visual as a reminder to keep us upright.
