The Kimera EV037 takes up the torch of the Lancia 037 forty years after the debut of its illustrious ancestor. For the 90th edition of the Monte-Carlo rally, the car is driven by the Petter Solberg/Mario Isola duo. It sports new colors celebrating 150 years of Pirelli.
In 1983, the German driver Walter Röhrl won the Monte-Carlo rally at the wheel of a Lancia 037 Group B. It was the last car driven by its rear wheels alone to win a WRC title, despite competition from the Audi Quattro. To honor this iconic victory, the Italian firm Kimera participates with his EV037 at the 2022 edition, which takes place from January 20 to 23 in the Principality of Monaco.

A special paint for the Kimera EV037
The Kimera EV037 features for the occasion a specific livery in the colors of the Italian manufacturer Pirelli. The latter celebrates its 150 year. The wheel was entrusted to the duo Petter Solberg (consecrated world rally champion in 2003) and Mario Isola (head of the competition division of Pirelli). For this 2022 edition of the Monte-Carlo rally, new hybrid WRCs are making their grand debut. This is the case of the Toyota Yaris Rally1 Hybrid, driven in particular by Sébastien Ogier on this event, or the Ford Puma Rally1 Hybrid, which welcomes another very active French “retired”, Sébastien Loeb.
With its purely thermal engine, the Kimera EV037 therefore stands apart. Although inspired by a Thencia 037 processed restomod way, it is a completely new vehicle. Presented in May 2021, it has a 2,150cc four-cylinder engine3 in the central position, doubly boosted by a supercharger and a turbocharger. An association of benefactors inspired by another Group B Lancia, the Delta S4, and which increases power to 505 hp for a torque value of 550 Nm. Manufacturing in Cuneo, in the Italian province of Piedmont, will be limited to 37 units, invoiced at €480,000 each.
