A man, who died at the age of 105, bequeathed his heritage to the CPAM of Var to thank it for the care he received during his life.
La Sécu was very spoiled at Christmas. A generous donor bequeathed his assets to the CPAM (Primary Health Insurance Fund) of Var, to which he was affiliated. Some 300,000 euros were thus paid to the organization, which did not expect so much altruism.
Lucien Facon passed away on September 25, 2012 at the honorable age of 105. Before his death, he had expressed in his will his willingness to pay his savings to the Health Insurance. After two and a half years of formalities, these funds have finally been transferred.
Gratitude
The man, born in 1907 in Avion, in the Pas-de-Calais, had been affiliated with the Var CPAM since 1912. He was “a lambda insured,” explains to AFP the director of communication of the Var fund. We didn’t know him better than that and were pleasantly surprised by his gesture, especially by the size of the donation ”.
The CPAM conducted the investigation to understand the reasons for this unprecedented generosity in its history. Lucien Facon would have liked to thank Social Security for the benefits he had received throughout his life.
“Because of his great age, and also because this gentleman was suffering from dwarfism, we believe that he received special care and that he had many contacts with our organization”, says the person in charge, who is is informed at the retirement home of this benefactor.
Lucien Facon’s notary first verified that the man had no family to bequeath this fortune, before announcing to the CPAM that the transfer would take place. The organization announced that this sum will be used to finance the renovation of the reception of its premises in Toulon, which will be renamed “Lucien Facon”. A commemorative plaque will be installed and inaugurated later this year.
