A Romanian designer imagined an exuberant Renault 8, equipped with a very wide body kit and aerodynamic appendages worthy of hill races. But that purists rest assured, this creation is only virtual. No Gordini was mistreated for its achievement.
Romanian independent designer Narcis George Mares, alias spoon334, has made a specialty: virtually creating particularly wide and aggressive body kits for existing vehicles. His studies are based on various and varied cars, from different eras. However, among these is our national Renault 8. It must be said that she had a alter ego Romanian, the Dacia 1100, first vehicle produced by the brand from Eastern Europe and the result of a collaboration between the Romanian state and Renault.

When the Renault 8 pulls out the muscles
To begin with, the artist placed his R8 flush with the ground on larger rims than the original, then underlined the whole with a flat carbon-fiber-like bottom protruding from the body all around the car. An openwork shield has been added to the front. At its lower corners, long-range headlamps enhance the car’s visual base.
The wings have been added wideners incorporating extractors. Air intakes have been fitted to the rear pillars, and the stern is topped with a spoiler over a multi-part diffuser. The car seems ready to do battle with supercars on the track.
What engine for this bodybuilder R8?
Nothing is said about a hypothetical evolution of motorization. As a reminder, the sporty R8 Gordini carried a four-cylinder with eight valves of about 1,100 cm3 then 1,300 cm³ developing 80 then 88 hp, installed in a rear overhang, for a weight revolving around 800 kg.
The Renault 8 will be 60 years old in 2022; la Gordini will celebrate them in 1964. What to give ideas to specialists in muscular restomod?
