Launched in 2017, the DS 7 Crossback is reaching mid-career and will soon receive some touch-ups. Something similar to the recent DS 4, both in terms of style and the catalog of driving aids.
Marketed since 2017, the DS 7 Crossback is the brand’s best seller, just ahead of the little brother DS 3 Crossback. It has passed to 6 985 units during the first semester of 2021, against 5,514 units for the urban SUV. Mid-career, he is about to receive a slight restyling. This will allow the SUV to get up to date, especially in terms of style or driving aids.

As our illustration shows, the DS 7 Crossback could remove some chrome at the front, and in particular the DS Wings under the headlights. The light signature would thus evolve to be closer to that of the DS 4. The hook, which descends from the main optic, contains more than 150 LEDs. For the rest, the French SUV should undergo relatively few changes, mainly focused on the choice of rims, shields or the interior design of the taillights.
Full of driving aids

Where the DS 7 Crossback should evolve the most is in terms of driving aids. The model will take over some of the ADAS available on the DS 4, such as the new multimedia interface integrating a personal assistant DS Iris System. This can, in the DS 4, be controlled by voice or by gesture commands on another touch screen, placed at the bottom of the central console.

Autonomous level 2 driving (adaptive cruise control with congestion function and active maintenance in the lane) is already present on the DS 7 Crossback, but the device should receive the same upgrades as that of the DS 4. It will allow:
- semi-automatic overtaking (the driver will simply have to activate the turn signal);
- an adaptation of the speed in the curves;
- an anticipated speed recommendation via reading road signs.

No electric version planned before the second generation

On the engine side, the DS 7 Crossback should not see its range upset. The plug-in hybrid variants E-Tense 225 hp and E-Tense 4 x 4 300 hp will be renewed, while the thermal range will remain unchanged. On the other hand, no 100% electric version is planned for the moment.
This update of the DS 7 Crossback should arrive around spring 2022. It will allow the SUV to continue its career until 2025, when a second generation (100% electric) will take over. It will be developed on the STLA Medium platform, inaugurated by the future Peugeot 3008 and which will integrate a new electric motor from Nidec as well as a battery supplied by ACC (a joint venture between Total-Saft and Stellantis).
