In the event of flooding, many cars are regularly found sacrificed. But a small Texas company, ClimaGuard, had an idea to avoid that: a waterproof tarpaulin capable of fully protecting a vehicle, and even floating if necessary.
Water and oil aren’t the only ones that go hand in hand. For a car, flooding often causes irreparable damage. It was while living this painful experience in 2017, during Hurricane Harvey, that Rahel Abraham, a resident of Houston, Texas, came up with the idea for ClimaGuard. The principle is simple: it is a tarpaulin like you can buy in the store, but which does not only protect the body from dust and knocks. Here, even the foundations are packaged in a material chosen for its waterproofing., in order to prevent moisture from entering as much as possible. The start-up thus announces an efficiency preserved up to 91 cm of stagnant water.

For vehicles of all formats
Available in three different formats, this tarp can cover both sedans and SUVs, up to 5.06 m in length. Apart from a few limousines like the Mercedes S-Class and EQS, most models sold with us will therefore be compatible. As a bonus, a certain buoyancy is ensured. To prevent your car from being propelled against an obstacle, it will be better to secure it using the straps provided for this purpose. Without forgetting to close everything tightly before leaving the premises.
Everything has been designed to be handled by one person, and can then be stored in a dedicated bag. Alas, ClimaGuard currently has no distributor in Europe. In addition to the price, between 399 and 479 dollars (340 to 408 €), it will therefore be necessary to add shipping costs of up to 167 dollars (142 €), not to mention customs and currency conversion costs. This protection is therefore not within the reach of all budgets.
