Many Dutch people suffer from it: irritable bowel syndrome. This can manifest itself in diarrhea or constipation, in abdominal pain to flatulence. All very annoying and sometimes the complaints are so bad that working or studying is no longer possible. Ben Witteman is a gastroenterologist and liver specialist and conducts research at the University of Wageningen. He specializes in this condition and in this podcast episode tells you what you can do yourself about an irritable bowel, for example by eating differently. With great reassurance: an irritable bowel is annoying, but not harmful to your health.
