The officinal pharmaceutical record designed to avoid drug interactions has been extended to the hospital.
It was illustrated during the alert of Furosemide, this diuretic suspected for a few days of containing sleeping pills in some of its blisters. In a few hours, although the alert was given on a Friday at 6:39 p.m., time close to the closing of pharmacies, no box of this generic was available. It is the pharmaceutical alert file (DP-Alert) which allowed this coup and this capacity of reaction of pharmacists.
The latter also have the patient pharmaceutical file. It gathers, for each beneficiary of the Health Insurance who wishes it, all the drugs (preccribed or advised by a pharmacist) which have been delivered to him during the last four months. Thanks to this PD-Patient, the pharmacist can check that certain drugs do not duplicate or that there is no risk of dangerous interactions.
And this device is very successful. In September 2013, more than 28 million patients opened a file and 98% of pharmacies can manage it.
This success prompted the authorities and representatives of pharmacists to extend the distribution of the PD. From next January, experiments will be launched to allow hospital doctors to consult him. Yannick Le Guen, deputy director of the performance management of healthcare providers at the general directorate for healthcare provision (DGOS), indicated that 55 establishments were participating in 17 regions.
Listen to Yannick Le Guen, general management of healthcare : ” If this device is favorable for health establishments, we could even consider extending it to town doctors …“
Finally, another extension of the system, the DP-Rupture, for the management of information on supply disruptions. During the recent shortage of Levothyrox, a drug prescribed to regulate the thyroid, the Drug Safety Agency (Ansm) also revealed that 45 drugs deemed essential were currently out of supply. This new device will make it possible to have a photograph more in line with reality. According to Isabelle Adenot, president of the Order of Pharmacists, this DP-rupture takes into account all drugs.
Listen to Isabelle Adenot, President of the Order of Pharmacists : ” We will discover thanks to this pilot that it is not at all 45 missing drugs, it is much more. We see that there is really a problem and it is important to put transparency in there… “
