Aquagym is a complete sport. Accessible to all, soft and inexpensive, this gym in the water allows you to move gently without any risk of injury. The first benefits of water aerobics are its rapid effects on the body, heart and morale. A more zen spirit and a harmonious line, does that tempt you?
Like all physical activities, aquagym strengthens the muscular system, stimulates cardiovascular rhythm, improves respiratory tone and blood circulation. It is also an activity where the risk of injury is minimal. The resistance exerted by the water makes it possible to avoid sudden movements, breakdowns, elongations and aches.
The benefits of aquagym for the figure
In water, the body is much lighter. This is the principle of Archimedes’ thrust: the more the body is immersed in water, the more its mass decreases! Suddenly, all movements become easier, even if the water creates greater resistance than the air and requires the muscles to work harder.
Aquagym is therefore a perfect physical activity to reshape the silhouette. The muscles work more intensely without even realizing it.
30 minutes of water aerobics can burn about 600 calories, the equivalent of an hour and a half of gym on the ground? Also thanks to this resistance of the water, each movement accomplished makes it possible to make an effective draining massage on the surface of the skin to stimulate blood circulation, fight against water retention and eliminate cellulite.
A complete and gentle sport
Refine the size, firm the chest and buttocksstrengthen the back and abs, shape the arms and shoulders… Aquagym offers a wide variety of movements to work all the muscles.
By practicing aquagym, you must provide greater physical effort to move around and do the various exercises. It is a sport that is practiced almost in weightlessness. In the water, you no longer feel your weight on the ground and your joints are protected from any impact on the ground.
The shocks are amortized, there are no impacts on the ground. The movements are soft and fluid. The joints can therefore work smoothly and become more flexible without violent stresses. Contraindications to aquagym are rare, but as with any sports practice, before you start, talk to your doctor.
Aquagym to feel good about yourself
Water gives us a welcome feeling of lightness, which makes us forget the extra pounds. Inevitably, it boosts the good mood! But water also has soothing virtues, as if it reminded us of our intra-uterine life. The aquatic environment is, by nature, a source of relaxation and well-being.
Like other sports, water aerobics triggers a secretion of endorphin, the pleasure hormone. After a few minutes of effort, you naturally feel good.
Practiced in groups, aquagym allows you to take a convivial break. We don’t come to show off: the atmosphere is good-natured and relaxed. The group effect is stimulating and makes you want to surpass yourself. When the coaches know how to do it, we can discuss and have fun.
An activity for everyone
Finally, and this is not the least of the advantages of aquagym, it is a sport to everyone, regardless of age or gender. Even pregnant women are welcome! It is soft and safe regardless of shape, weight, flexibility…
Aquagym does not require technical knowledge either: it is therefore possible to join a course at any time of the year. It is not even essential to know how to swim, because many exercises are practiced at the edge of the pool, where everyone is on foot.
Aquagym lessons are offered in most municipal swimming pools, but also in certain fitness clubs equipped with a pool. The ideal is to do two sessions of 45 minutes per week. The lucky ones who live by the sea or have a backyard pool can pick up the pace!
