In the Lada range, there is the Niva. The iconic all-terrain vehicle comes in several forms including a new Bronto version that the Russian manufacturer had yet chosen to abandon at the end of 2020. The 4×4 is back in the catalog, but it will be content to make a career in Russia only.
Lada announces the return to the Niva Bronto catalog. The production of this version, widely acclaimed by Russian customers, ended in 2020. Faced with the success of the model, the manufacturer has decided to relaunch the 4×4 and offer it some improvements.
Two finishes available
Derived from the Niva Legend 3-door, which remains in the catalog, the Bronto is available in two finishes: Luxury and Prestige. The first gets metal bumpers, roof racks and 15-inch wheels. The second adds protection to the side sills and wheel arches, as well as plastic bumpers, fog lights and a specific grille. In all cases, the model can be fitted with an additional light bar and a specific “camouflage” exterior paint.
Developments on board
The interior has evolved further. The Bronto, not to be confused with Ford’s Bronco, gets a modernized dashboard with new meters and redesigned climate controls. The seats are more comfortable and can be heated. Lada also claims to have improved the soundproofing of its rustic all-terrain.
Under the hood, Lada did not try to electrify her adventurer. The manufacturer has reinstalled its steadfast 83 hp 1.7 L 4-cylinder petrol engine. The block is teamed with a 5-speed manual transmission. Power is sent to the 4 wheels. The 4×4 has a locking front and rear differential lock. According to the manufacturer, the suspension has been modified and reinforced.
A new Niva in 2024
Lada opened the order book for this new model, which it primarily intended for markets in Eastern Europe. Niva, as we know it, will soon no longer exist. It will be renewed in 2024 with a new version on a Dacia technical basis. Good news for those who appreciate the brand and / or model, the Niva will also be making a comeback in Europe.
