Make your own healthy barbecue sauces
Sauce comes with a barbecue. But leave that standard (fat!) garlic sauce for what it is and get started yourself. Four skinny dips for the barbecue.
#1 Garlic sauce
This sauce is best if you make it the night before.
What do you need:
- 2 dl low-fat yogurt
- 1/4 dessert spoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 3 cloves garlic (pressed)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- Salt (to taste)
- Cayenne pepper (to taste)
How are you?
- Stir all ingredients together and finally add salt and cayenne pepper to taste.
- Garnish with a little leftover parsley.
#2 Tomato salsa
This sauce is delicious both hot and cold.
What do you need?
- 4 tomatoes (diced)
- 1/2 red onion (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 garlic clove (finely chopped)
- 1/2 bunch coriander (finely chopped)
- juice of 1 lemon
- Pepper
- Salty
How are you?
- Heat a dash of olive oil in a saucepan and add the onion and tomato.
- After 5 minutes, add the garlic and most of the coriander and stir well.
- Then add the lemon juice and the 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with the rest of the coriander.
#3 Tzatziki sauce
What do you need?
- 300 grams of Greek yogurt
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1 garlic clove (finely chopped)
- 1/2 cucumber
- Handful of fresh dill (chopped)
- Handful of fresh mint (finely chopped)
- Pepper
- Salty
How are you?
- Grate the cucumber and place in a colander, sprinkle with salt and let it drain for about 20 minutes.
- Then squeeze out the remaining moisture.
- Mix the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, dill, mint and garlic well together.
- Add the lime juice and season with salt and pepper.
- Garnish with some leftover dill and mint, if desired.
#4 Curry-pineapple sauce
Tip: roast the remaining fresh pineapple on the barbecue.
What do you need?
- 300 grams of Greek yogurt
- 100 grams fresh pineapple (diced)
- 2 teaspoons curry powder
- 1/2 red onion (chopped)
- Pepper
- Salty
How are you?
- Mix all ingredients well and season with salt and pepper.
- Garnish with some pineapple and curry powder if desired.
