More and more French people are allergic to pollens, and are greatly annoyed on a daily basis. To help them, Hubert Bigot, ENT doctor, gives his valuable advice.
- 30% of French people are now allergic to various elements, including pollen.
- In 20 years, specialists estimate that this figure will rise to 50%.
While we are in the middle of the pollen season, Hubert Bigot, ENT doctor at the Thermes de Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc, explains to us how to limit allergies as much as possible.
Tip number 1: ventilate at the right time
“And yes! Your house or your apartment breathes. Consequently, the pollens reach you. Much less than outside, but enough to disturb your nasal and bronchial breathing”explains Dr. Hubert Bigot.
To limit the entry of pollen, do not leave the windows open for too long, and ventilate preferably if it is cold or rainy. Close them well in case of wind.
Tip number 2: detoxify your interior
“In order to limit spring allergies, you must also avoid adding irritating factors to your indoor environment, such as tobacco, perfumes, candles, incense and aggressive cleaning or DIY products. ..”, details ENT.
Tip number 3: wash your nose
Nose washing eliminates a good part of the allergens present in the nostrils, as well as the chemical bodies produced by the attacked mucous membrane.
“In the event of an attack by Covid-19, washing the nose causes the virus to spread. Do this washing with strict hygiene precautions to protect the people around you”, warns Hubert Bigot all the same.
Tip number 4: get treated
In case of pollen allergy“Antihistamine drugs are recommended in combination or not with local corticosteroids: they are active and have almost no harmful effect on the body”, Judge Hubert Bigot. Be careful though: “local drugs often contain a corticosteroid. These compounds are not recommended during a Covid-19 viral epidemic”warns the specialist.
