A survey carried out by the underwear brand Tommy John and taken up by Newsweek reveals that nearly half of Americans do not have the daily reflex to change their underwear. 45% of them recognize without blushing wearing the same underwear for two days in a row. 13% even admit keeping the same for more than a week or more! Easy solution to avoid looking in your drawer or simply forgetting hygiene gestures, still it is that the amateurs of prolonged wearing of underwear are mostly male. Men are 2.5 times more likely to take this (bad) habit than their female counterparts.
Risks associated with prolonged wearing of panties
Another detail given by the survey, Americans are also unscrupulous about the renewal of their intimate lingerie when it is worn. 36% of respondents find it difficult to say how long they have had their underwear on. The brand behind the survey reminds us of the importance of changing them before they are completely damaged in order to avoid friction and untimely irritation. The brand reiterates the importance of keeping clean underwear to prevent it from becoming fertile ground for the development of microorganisms such as fungi.
Women are the most exposed to this problem. Prolonged wearing of dirty underwear promotes the imbalance of the vaginal flora and makes it vulnerable to infections (yeast infection), of cystitis or irritations.
To limit risks and preserve a vaginal microbiota healthy, so it is recommended to change underwear daily.
