Without stress on holiday
After a period full of stress and busyness, it is not easy to relax during your holiday from day one. You often need a few days for that. A shame, because before you know it, that well-deserved vacation will be over. These ten tips will help you de-stress and get the most out of your holiday!
Tip 1: Make plans
A good start is half the work. By preparing your holiday well and planning what you want to do and what to do with it, the chance of a successful holiday is high. Therefore, make plans and make a list of what you want to take with you. When you only start thinking about what to take with you shortly before your holiday and have to buy things quickly, it causes extra – unnecessary – stress.
Chase the sun in the fall
If you don’t want to say goodbye to the sun, this is the right place. There are a number of wonderful destinations available where you can enjoy yourself in the future.

Tip 2: To the sauna
In the sauna you sweat out all the waste that can block the energy flow in your body. By sweating you get rid of these substances and your energy can flow undisturbed through your body again. For the enthusiast, a sauna bath is wonderful for body and mind.
Tip 3: Say ‘no’
Just before a holiday is often a very busy period, because everything has to be finished before the holiday. Also say ‘no’ when someone asks to do something. Set limits on what you can and cannot do. So don’t immediately say ‘yes’ when someone wants something from you. Otherwise, ask for reflection time, that makes it easier to cancel.
Tip 4: Do relaxation exercises
It is very important to go on holiday as rested as possible. So don’t go to bed too late in the week before you go on vacation. Are you worrying about what still needs to be done before you go on vacation? Do relaxation exercises. These exercises will help you relax better and fall asleep faster. You can do the exercises in peace in your bedroom.
Tip 5: Pay bills
Don’t throw the mail and invoices in a heap in the corner and think that will come after the holidays. By getting rid of the whole pile, you deprive yourself of stress. When you have your affairs in order, you feel much better.
Tip 6: Watch what you eat
During stressful periods, some people often reach for easy foods such as snacks and sweets. While these foods can actually make you feel very listless and make you less able to deal with stress. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and avoid high-fat foods.
Tip 7: Relax with sex
A Scottish study shows that sex relaxes and lowers blood pressure. The study required 24 women and 22 men to do stressful things, such as speaking in public or doing maths out loud. Test subjects who had recently had sex were found to cope better with stress.
Tip 8: Go into nature
Walking in nature helps reduce stress and organize thoughts. Research shows that a natural environment enhances positive feelings and reduces tension. Why this is so is not yet entirely clear. But it is certain that ‘green’ cheers people up. Take a nice long walk to find your peace again.
Tip 9: Don’t plan appointments for after your vacation
Keep your calendar empty for the first few days after your vacation. Schedule few or no appointments. This way you don’t have to think about what to do after the holiday. You also stay relaxed for longer and you retain the holiday feeling for longer.
Tip 10: Move
Exercise is one of the simplest and best ways to deal with stress. Chemicals accumulated by the stress are removed. It also helps to relax the muscles. In addition, it is of course good for your condition, not to mention your resistance.
