For ten or twenty years, nothing made it possible to detect the disease: neither symptoms nor pain. This is why it is often discovered late: two times out of ten, it has already led to complications. Hence the importance of early adopting a lifestyle that protects us from it and carrying out screenings from time to time. In the event of a family history, a first blood test is recommended as early as adolescence. Otherwise, it is from the age of fifty that it is advisable to be prescribed an annual measurement of the blood sugar by his GP. If, on two occasions, the result is greater than 1.26 g/l, you are diabetic. Symptoms can sometimes alert (permanent thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, weight loss despite a growing appetite), but you should not rely too much on them to be warned in time.
Constantly increasing
The number of patients with Type 2 diabetes is increasing in all industrialized countries and now even in developing countries. In France, they are 2.6 million (+ 5.7% each year).
the type 1 diabetes is also increasing (more than 3% per year) and affects younger and younger children.
