Hygiene is important. Especially in the bathroom, where you are there for a reason – namely to get or stay clean. So watch out for these surprising sources of bacteria and fungi.
rubber duck
You wouldn’t expect it, but rubber ducks are full of bacteria and fungi, according to Swiss and American research. The researchers let rubber ducks float in clean water and another batch in used bath water (containing soap, sweat and human bacteria) for 11 weeks. When compressed, four of the five contained potential disease-causing bacteria and fungi. The images don’t lie:

Toilet
Of course, in terms of hygiene, you should always pay extra attention if you have a toilet in the bathroom. Especially when pulling through. At those times, flying poop particles and bacteria can quite easily end up in other places, such as the toothbrush. Always close the toilet valve before flushing. And don’t forget the toilet brush tray.
Toothbrush
The toothbrush itself is of course also a source of bacteria. Replace it every three months to really ensure good hygiene. But there’s another thing that many people don’t think about, which is the tray or cup that contains the toothbrushes; put each toothbrush in a separate container.
Bottles
For good hygiene in the bathroom, do not forget bottles. They collect a lot of dust if they stay in the same place for a long time. Therefore, put them in a cupboard or rinse them regularly. A collar in the shower can also be a godsend, because all items are then rinsed off during the shower. Don’t forget to clean the collar regularly with a washcloth.
Floor tiles
Finally, don’t forget the tiles in the bathroom. Moisture often leads to mold and black edges and lime makes the seams yellow in color. Clean the edges of the tiles regularly to prevent this. You can make this job a lot easier by adding new joints made of moisture-resistant material. If you opt for gray grout, the grout will not only stay clean for longer, but you will also notice less limescale on it.
