The Joséphine pour la Beauté des Femmes association proposes to collect the wigs of women who have overcome cancer in order to benefit those who cannot afford them.
For women with cancer and in a precarious situation, wigs often remain inaccessible because of their high price (between € 500 and € 3,000 on average, and Social Security only reimburses a flat rate of € 125). One more injustice for patients who often lose their hair during chemotherapy.
To put an end to this injustice, the association Joséphine for the Beauty of Women launched its action “Les Perruques de Joséphine” on March 19 to help patients. She thus proposes to collect the wigs of women who have overcome the disease in order to benefit those who cannot afford them.
A social media campaign
In practice, you can test the association’s Facebook application since March 16. It allows you to join the #AvecMaPerruque community by taking up a challenge. This consists of taking a picture of yourself with the pink wig created for the occasion. You can then invite your friends to do the same. Everything happens on the following link: http://bit.ly/AvecMaPerruque.
Please note, if you agree to take up the challenge, the association recommends answering any questions with only the words “RDV March 19!” “
Regarding the collection of wigs, they should be sent to the association directly at the following address: Association Joséphine pour la Beauté des Femmes, Operation Les Perruques de Joséphine, 1 bis rue d’Entraigues 37000 Tours.
Hairdressers mobilized
Once received, the association’s salaried and volunteer hairdressers will have the task of washing, cutting and styling the collected wigs so that each woman can find her image, her personality and her identity. The association even wants to go further in accompanying and supporting patients by following up with these women, in particular by refreshing their wigs every three months.
A financial donation
In addition, you can also help finance this initiative by making a donation to the association via the platform HelloAsso. In a press release, the latter specifies that this project is not ephemeral: “every day, women recover from cancer, but also every day, new people are diagnosed (155,000 new cases of female cancer in 2012 according to figures from the National Cancer Institute). Your donation is important to help as many women as possible to fight disease with dignity and femininity. HELP US TO HELP THEM ! Together, we can really do great things, ”concludes the association.
