We are familiar with foldable phones, but now there may also be a foldable mouse from Microsoft. Why?
Apparently we increasingly feel the need to fold things. Since it has become clear that you can make a bendable OLED screen, the phone world has been under the spell of foldable phones. Still, folding has always been a nice feature, just think of laptops.
Microsoft foldable mouse
Microsoft files a patent for a foldable mouse. At least one that actually folds. Microsoft already has the Arc mouse that can be bent and flattened, but a fully double folding mouse is something new.
Why?
However, the question is “why do I want a Microsoft foldable mouse?” According to Microsoft, it’s simple. Nowadays you want to be able to carry everything with you, including a complete laptop or tablet setup. Sometimes you’re done with that trackpad and a mouse is much more convenient. Then you have a choice: either an ergonomically fine mouse that is too irritating to take with you everywhere, or a portable mouse that is again not good in ergonomics. The foldable Microsoft mouse should solve that problem: it can be operated like a comfortable mouse, but can be folded to fit more easily in your bag/pocket.
Design
The performance is exactly what you think it is. When unfolded, it’s like an Arc mouse, but with a slightly less prominent bulge. When folded, it is half the size. Inside is a wide variety of hinges and folding components. Furthermore, we just see two mouse buttons and a scroll wheel.
The patent for the folding mouse was found on World Intellectual Property Organization, But that doesn’t mean it actually works. Do you like it, a folding mouse?
