Asking allows him to better understand the world around him.
Around the age of about 3, children usually start asking a lot of questions that start with “why”. If some help him to better understand what he observes, others can also reassure him or help him to question the instructions.
Why so many questions ?
At this age, the child makes discoveries at every moment without always understanding what he observes. By asking these questions, he seeks answers that allow him to acquire new knowledge and satisfy his curiosity.
Sometimes these questions allow him to reassure himself about things that worry him in his daily life or to go further on certain very varied or universal subjects such as sexuality or death.
How to answer these questions?
Being patient and spending time answering your child’s questions helps them understand that they are important to you. Answer him by telling him the truth and if you don’t know the answer, just admit it and try to help him find it in a book or on the internet for example.
On the other hand, if you notice that he is chaining the “whys” to question a rule or an instruction, do not enter into the argument so that he accepts your decision. Repeat the instruction calmly and patiently.
