Not all skin attracts mosquitoes the same. American researchers have brought together different studies that have looked into the question and the result of this analysis is rather astonishing.
Mosquitoes are not equal to all blood groups
You have undoubtedly been confronted with this astonishing observation. The same evening outside, a mess of mosquitoes, which do not bite equally. When one is covered with bites, the other will be totally spared. Why ? Scientists from the American Smithsonian Institute looked into the question and managed to decipher the criteria for choosing mosquitoes.
And there are many, if we are to believe this publication which brings together the results of various studies on the subject. We learn in particular that people with blood groups A and O are more prone to mosquito bites than others. Mosquitoes, able to sense the chemical signal broadcast by these people, would therefore be more attracted to them.
Children, less victims of mosquitoes than their parents
If children are bitten less often than adults, this is mainly because they exhale less carbon dioxide than their parents. Mosquitoes’ attraction to this gas is also a reason why pregnant women, who expel twice as much, are more prone to bites. Body temperature is also a criterion of choice. Mosquitoes move more easily to high temperatures. Be careful, therefore, if you have just done a sport.
The authors of this analysis also reveal that the color of your clothes can make you an ideal victim of mosquitoes.. If you wear red, mosquitoes will spot you more easily than if you wear white clothes. Also avoid drinking beer! It seems that this promotes the attraction of mosquitoes.
