The vitamin C plays a fundamental role for our body. Reputed to be the anti-fatigue par excellence, it also plays an antioxidant role. That is to say, it protects against oxidative stress which reflects all the attacks on the constituents of our cells. This vitamin prevents accelerated cellular aging. In addition, it helps in the absorption of iron from plants in the intestine. But not only ! It also helps make collagen, a protein essential for the formation of connective tissue in the skin, ligaments and bones. She also helps maintain immune function, it activates the healing of wounds, participates in the formation of red blood cells. Insufficient intake of vitamin C can affect daily physical performance, for both men and women. And lead to great fatigue.
For people with active lifestyles, it is essential to consume sufficient quantities, namely 110mg per day. Historically, legend has it that orange brings the most. However, 100 g of orange brings about 53 mg.
Blackcurrant and kiwi are more vitaminized than orange
“It’s not the richest fruit in vitamin C. The kiwi contains much more : About 92 mg per 100 g. In addition, the small black grains it contains are rich in vitamin E, another antioxidant that protects the skin from premature aging. explains Laurent Chevallier nutritionist.
But the record is held by a small red berry, namely blackcurrant. Indeed, by consuming 100 g of this fruit, we provide our body with 181 mg of vitamin C. “Today there are bags of frozen red fruits on the market containing blackcurrant. The ideal is to put a handful in a natural yogurt and we have an interesting quota of antioxidants and anti-fatigue”, recommends Dr. Chevallier. A great breakfast recipe on days when you’re out of ideas…
