A The Last of Us series is in the works for HBO Max. But what is the current situation of this show?
The Last of Us is a great game series on PlayStation. Multiple parts of the game have been released and they have all been received more than positively. The success of the game series inspired HBO Max to turn it into a show. For Sony it is the second time in a short time that a game of theirs has received attention from Hollywood. Also think of the Uncharted movie, which hits theaters this year.
But where Uncharted will indeed appear in cinemas this year, it remains to be seen when you can stream The Last of Us series on HBO Max. If you expected a release in 2022, we have to disappoint you. Casey Bloys of HBO Max has opposite The Hollywood Reporter clarified in an interview. The CEO says that The Last of Us will certainly not appear on the streaming service this year.
Maybe in 2023 at the earliest, but don’t get too hung up on that either. Filming of the first season is still in full swing. The Last of Us series is being shot in Calgary, Canada. Bloys himself does not dare to name a release date yet. With the possible end of the corona pandemic, it may now be possible to accelerate with the completion of recordings and production. The hope is set on 2023.
