I have had a callus on the left side of my right big toe for a long time. Since I started running I have also developed a callus on the right side of my left big toe. Both places do
no pain and I don’t have any problems with (hard) walking either. It doesn’t look very nice though and I wonder if it’s not going to get worse and I shouldn’t do something about it now?

Callus formation is always caused by pressure and friction. Usually there is an uneven distribution of pressure during walking, which causes the skin, which otherwise does not receive pressure, to form calluses to protect itself, as it were.
Calluses on the sides of the big toe are often the result of a deviant gait of the foot. You can possibly compensate for this by means of a podiatric sole, but if you don’t have any complaints from it, it’s just the
ask if you want this.
On the other hand, you can also have the callus removed regularly by a pedicure. This way you keep track of it, and you also partly prevent you from getting bothered by it.
