Launched in 2014, the 2014-2019 Cancer Plan aims to “meet the needs and expectations of sick people, their families and all citizens”.
In total, 17 objectives have been defined, among which “promote earlier diagnoses”, “reduce the impact of cancer on personal life”, “reduce the risk of sequelae or second cancer” or even “prevent related cancers. at work or the environment ”.
On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the National Cancer Institute (INCa) took stock of the progress made against the disease during 2017.
In this report, we discover many concrete advances that directly benefit patients: for example, the benefits of physical activity have been demonstrated and its prescription for patients with long-term illness (ALD) is now possible.
Right to be forgotten, job retention, tobacco control
Even more concrete, the “right to be forgotten” for bank loans has been extended to new cancer locations: for example, colon and rectal cancers, and Hodgkin lymphomas were included in the AERAS reference grid in 2017.
In addition, 17 companies have signed the Charter on returning to and maintaining employment in five regions: they have thus committed to concrete measures to support their employees affected by the disease.
In 2017, 11 projects to reduce smoking were also launched by INCa: the #MoisSansTabac operation was also successfully renewed.
Significant progress. However, in 2017, cancer killed 150,000 people in France and 400,000 new cases were diagnosed.
