Homework is an opportunity to learn concentration and organization to get used to making efforts and achieving goals.
The usefulness of homework is often questioned by teachers or parents. Sometimes a source of anger and frustration, they can be useful for developing the notion of effort, but they still have to take place in the right conditions.
The usefulness of homework
Allowing the child to do certain exercises or learn lessons at home allows parents to better assess learning and get involved in their school life. Homework is a tool that creates a link between the child, the parents and the teacher around the educational path.
For some children, they are useful for revising or deepening certain notions seen in class in a calmer environment, possibly asking the parents for help. They also make it possible to empower him through the management of the agenda and the tasks to be done, for example. In this sense, they are an asset for developing autonomy, organization of time and workspace.
Why is homework a problem?
Highly disputed, homework can go against the needs of the child returning from school, who needs to move and take his mind off things. Some parents also cannot afford dedicated time or space at home to help their children.
Finally, as all children do not have the same pace of learning, for some homework time lengthens and stretches to the point of creating frustration and anger. For some teachers and parents, this time should be replaced by teaching time in the school setting or reading time at home.
