Across Europe, the Volkswagen group will convert more factories to the production of 100% electric vehicles. From Volkswagen to Porsche via Audi, here are the future models announced. A battery factory will be set up in Germany.
The Volkswagen group is second in electrification. The brands Volkswagen, Audi and Cupra have notably announced their intention to become “zero emission” before 2035, at least in Europe. The others, without completely renouncing the thermal for the moment, will multiply the battery models. So the German giant is announcing today the upcoming transformation of several of its European factories with a view to producing electric vehicles there.

Hanover: VW vans at Audi’s flagship
The factory at Volkswagen’s historic headquarters in Wolfsburg currently assembles the Golf, Tiguan and Touran, as well as the Seat Tarraco. The ID.3 will gradually enter production there between 2023 and 2024, in addition to occupying the lines of the Zwickau plant. As of 2026, Wolfsburg will also host the production of the electric and highly autonomous sedan developed on a brand new platform called SSP as part of the Trinity project.
Audi is running a similar program called Artemis, and the first car designed in this way will roll off the lines of the Hanover plant currently dedicated to Volkswagen utility vehicles. This is also where the body of a future Bentley model will be produced. Volkswagen had previously announced that the electric van ID. Buzz with MEB platform and its Cargo version would come from Hanover; a California variant will be added to this range.
Porsche will add an electric to its catalog
Porsche, for its part, will produce a second electric model on the PPE architecture in Leipzig alongside the second generation Macan. This is where the Macan, Cayenne and Panamera from the Stuttgart-based manufacturer come today.
Still upscale, Audi confirms the start of production of a Q8 e-tron in Brussels in 2026. Batteries in Germany, compacts in Spain
The Volkswagen group formalizes the assignment of its Spanish factories to the production of compact electric vehicles based on a modified version of the MEB platform, subject to conditions proposed by the local government. The Martorell site, Seat’s headquarters, which assembles the Audi A1 alongside the Ibiza, Arona and Leon of the Iberian brand, will produce low-floor models. The Pamplona plant, currently responsible for the Volkswagen T-Cross, Polo and Taigo, will be responsible for assembling small battery-powered SUVs. The Volkswagen ID.2 could be part of it, as well as a Skoda model, which remains to be formalized.
