Marketed in December 2020, the electric Volvo XC40 already receives a completely revised range. From now on, it is called XC40 Recharge Twin and is entitled to two Plus and Pro finishes, respectively displayed from € 58,490 and € 62,490.
New name for the electric Volvo XC40! After being baptized “Recharge P8 AWD” at its launch, the Swedish electric SUV has been given a new name since March 4, 2021. From now on, it will have to be called the Volvo XC40 Recharge Twin. Volvo argues that this name was chosen to mean that it is equipped with two electric motors. Indeed, the model has 408 hp thanks to its two electromotors of 204 hp (150 kW) each. The model, with a 78 kWh battery, offers 418 km of range on the WLTP cycle, but our test of the XC40 Recharge Twin in real conditions did not reveal the same results …
Two finishes in the catalog, from € 58,490
When it was launched in December 2020, the electric XC40 only had one R-Design finish, displayed from € 59,940. Now, for this “MY2022 vintage”, Volvo is offering two versions: an entry-level Plus and a more luxurious Pro finish. The XC40 Recharge Twin starts at € 58,490 in the Plus finish and at € 62,490 in the Pro version. This offers some additional equipment: panoramic roof, 360 ° camera, Full LED directional headlights, etc.
If the basic version can benefit from the ecological bonus of € 3,000 (which will be reduced to € 2,000 from the 1er July 2021), only discounts applied by the manufacturer will allow optioned models or the second trim level to be eligible for this financial boost *. On its online configurator, Volvo is already applying a discount of 4 % which allows the XC40 Plus to be displayed from € 56,150 and at the top of the Pro range to be accessible at € 59,990, the metallic paint is even included on this second finish. Since September 2021, the catalog has been enriched with a version with a single 231 hp engine which allows the price to be reduced to € 46,800.
Cleaning the options side
As for the options, the catalog is reduced since only tinted windows, 20 ”alloy wheels and a choice of upholstery and paints are offered. Moreover, Bright blue and Onyx black are disappearing, while solid black remains available and Denim blue is joining the catalog. Other small subtleties: the storage bag for the charging cable becomes optional, the “surfer” key is removed from the Keyless function, and the heated windscreen washer nozzles disappear from the catalog.
