The Volvo XC40 Recharge range expands with the arrival of a variant with a single engine, which can be combined with a new finish. The Swedish electric SUV now starts at € 46,800, or even € 44,930 thanks to a discount allowing it to benefit from a € 6,000 bonus.
Last March, Volvo added the suffix Twin to the name of its XC40 Recharge to emphasize that this electric version of the compact SUV had two engines. The Swedish manufacturer was thus preparing the ground for the arrival of a new version called XC40 Recharge “tout court”, with one motor and marketed on September 3, 2021 in France at a price of € 46,800.

The electric XC40 under € 50,000
Claiming € 11,690 less than the entry-level twin-engine model, the more modest XC40 Recharge is powered by a 231 hp electromotor driving the front wheels. Its maximum torque has not yet been communicated. This unit is powered by a 69 kWh lithium-ion battery, against 78 kWh for the Twin version. The vehicle weighs 165 kg less than its all-wheel-drive counterpart but remains above 2 tonnes with 2,023 kg claimed empty. Volvo announces a stopwatch of 7.4 s to go from 0 to 100 km / h and a top speed restricted to 160 km / h. The new variant of the XC40 Recharge is still in the process of homologation, but its designers expect a range close to that of the most efficient model, or around 400 km in the WLTP combined cycle.

A unique basic finish
The two-wheel drive XC40 Recharge is exclusive to a new entry-level finish called Start. This includes among other equipment:
- dual-zone automatic air conditioning
- front and rear parking sensors
- reversing camera
- adaptive Led spotlights
- 12.3 inch digital instrument panel
- 9 inch central touchscreen
- Android multimedia system compatible with Apple CarPlay
- motorized tailgate
- heated front seats and steering wheel
- wireless phone charger
- 19 inch alloy wheels
- electrically folding mirrors
- Lane departure warning
- autonomous emergency braking with detection of pedestrians, cyclists and large animals
- detection of vehicles in intersection.

For the launch, Volvo automatically gives a discount of 4% on the starting price. This brings the price of the vehicle below the € 45,000 mark and therefore allows you to benefit from the maximum ecological bonus of € 6,000, against € 2,000 otherwise.
A richly endowed top of the range
The Plus configuration, reserved for the Twin engine, adds adaptive cruise control, lane keeping up to 130 km / h, blind spot monitoring with direction correction or even reverse traffic alert . For both powertrains, the top of the range is provided by the Pro finish, which offers in addition:
- panoramic sunroof
- Led fog lights
- directional headlights
- headlamp washers
- 360 ° cameras
- electrically folding rear head restraints
- Harman Kardon 600 W sound system.
