VW opens the order book for its new Multivan. The 7th generation of the family van is available in 4 finishes, all offered with the short (4.97 m) or long (5.17 m) format. Three engines adorn the catalog, including a new plug-in hybrid version. Entrance ticket: € 47,400
Last June, Volkswagen presented the new and 7e Multivan sound generation. Five months later, the time has come for the van to open its order book. Discover the range, equipment and prices of the 7-seater model produced in Hanover in Germany and including the first deliveries are due in February 2022.
Three finishes …
The Multivan is available in two body lengths: short (4.97 m) and long (5.17 m). In both cases, the wheelbase is the same (3.12 m). These two configurations, which show a difference of € 1,760, are offered with the three finishes in the catalog: Multivan, Life and Style. As standard, the family van is full of equipment. It receives digital meters, a 10 ” central touch screen, manual air conditioning, front / rear LED headlights and a range of driving aids (smart lights, predictive cruise control capable of taking into account the speed limits, fatigue detection, automatic emergency braking, etc.). The 7 individual places (2-2-3) are part of the standard allocation. As an option, the Multivan can receive a semi-autonomous driving assistant (844 €).
… and an Energetic launch series!
A launch finish called “Energetic” adorns the catalog for a limited time. Based on the Life intermediate finish, it is enriched with the electric tailgate with hands-free opening, Matrix LED IQ.Light projectors, panoramic glass roof, the Discover Media navigation system, the communication device between vehicles (Car2X) , “Area View” perimeter vision with reversing camera and “Park Assist” maneuvering assistance. The starting bet for this version, exclusively offered with the plug-in hybrid motor (read below), starts at € 63,720.
Three engines at launch
The Multivan range is structured around three engines. In essence, the van receives two TSI: a 1.5 of 136 hp and a 2.0 of 204 hp. During the 1er half-year 2022, the range will be enhanced with a TDI 150 ch, history to titillate the Mercedes V-Class 220d (163 hp). The third block is new on the model, it is a 1.4 eHybrid, understand plug-in hybrid. This combination of a thermal engine with an electric develops 218 hp, as on the Passat and Arteon. It allows the van to travel up to 50 km without emitting the least CO emissions.2 to the exhaust. This engine is offered with all the finishes and is even found as the only one available on the special launch series. Note that a 4-wheel drive version (4Motion) must join the catalog. The date of arrival has not been communicated.
Ecological and weight penalty in 2022
Remember that in 2022, in addition to the ecological penalty, a weight tax penalizes vehicles with thermal engines (excluding plug-in hybrids) weighing more than 1,800 kg, driver included. For each excess kilo, count 10 €. Next year, the accumulation of these two taxes may not exceed a ceiling set at € 40,000.

CO emissions2 are 203 g / km, i.e. a penalty of € 20,396 per 1er January 2022. With an unladen weight (driver included) of 2,112 kg, it is necessary to add 3,120 € to the bill for the excess 312 kg. That is: € 20,936 + € 3,120 = € 24,056 tax to be added to the price of the base model (€ 56,840).
