A few months ago, the Minister of Social Affairs and Health called for a “citizen consultation on vaccination” in order to better understand the concerns that remain among the French with regard to vaccination, and see what responses to them. The French have in fact become the most suspicious of vaccination in Europe: four out of ten people doubt its benefits and vaccination coverage is declining sharply.
The group of experts for this citizen consultation comes from return his copy and make several recommendations.
• The committee validates the authorization granted to pharmacists to inject the vaccine against the seasonal flu, and even suggest that this practice be facilitated “in all places of prevention, care or accommodation and the intervention of health professionals including midwives and nurses”.
• Against the disruptions in the supply of certain vaccines, which have contributed to calling into question the confidence of the population, he suggests setting up a national centralized purchasing policy.

• For the childhood vaccination, experts suggest “on a temporary basis, and under certain conditions” to make certain vaccines compulsory. But this recommendation would impose, underline the authors, “full support for the purchase of vaccines by compulsory health insurance plans” as well as the establishment of a “compensation scheme for adverse effects”.
• To expand the vaccination rate against HPV (human papillomavirus), the committee suggests that the future technical committee on vaccinations of the Haute Autorité de Santé re-examine the indications (and in particular the extension of this vaccination to young boys).
“We will see what the minister wants to do with this report. We will now be in the time of the policies”, said Prof. Alain Fischer, who chaired this committee.
