This Wednesday, Olivier Véran indicated that it will be possible to postpone his appointment for the second dose by two weeks so that it is compatible with the holidays. One requirement: this second dose must be administered in the same center as the one where the first injection was made.
- This flexibility is put in place so as not to slow down vaccination in June.
- As of June 15, 12-17 year olds will be able to get vaccinated.
- The serological tests, to know if one has already been infected, will arrive in the vaccination centers.
With the approach of the summer holidays, the government is organizing its vaccination strategy. Guest of TF1 8 p.m. this Wednesday, Olivier Véran announced a relaxation of the rules so as not to block the French who would go on vacation. Thus, it is possible to shift its second dose by two weeks. The only constraint is that it must be carried out in the same vaccination center as that of the first injection “for the simple reason that it is extremely complicated to anticipate population flows” during the holidays, had already communicated the ministry.

Large stocks of vaccines expected in June
This measure, presented as “derogatory” by the Minister of Health, will take effect this Thursday “or in the next few days”, he revealed. Regarding the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the expected time between the two injections is seven weeks at most. “There you can take it between six and eight weeks“, clarified Olivier Véran. This flexibility is put in place in order to “not to slow down vaccination in Junehe added. It is imperative to encourage as many people as possible to get vaccinated as soon as possible.” as the government waits to receive large stocks. This month, 28 million doses are expected, nearly 68% of them from Pfizer.
From June 15, 12-17 year olds will be able to get vaccinated
Another novelty concerning vaccination, the opening to 12-17 year olds has been approved by the government. Starting June 15, teens can get a dose of the Pfizer vaccine. This announcement follows that of the High Authority for Health (HAS), which issued a positive opinion on the possibility of vaccinating this segment of the population.
Serological tests deployed in vaccination centers
Finally, Olivier Véran announced the arrival of serological tests in vaccination centers. The goal is to deliver only one dose to people who test positive for these tests, which detect the presence of antibodies in the body, a sign of a first infection with the virus. This Thursday, the HAS must clarify the question of whether these tests will be offered to everyone or only to those who want them. This test is a simple blood test that gives a result in just 20 minutes.
Important information for the millions of French people who have already contracted COVID, with or without symptoms. Even if it was more than 6 months ago, only one dose of vaccine is needed. Rapid serological tests may be offered to you at vaccination centers pic.twitter.com/BMyZsDho1O
