Many women have bad reflexes when faced with a urinary tract infection. Here are the right steps to follow.
- Cystitis is an infection or inflammation of the bladder often due to bacterial colonization.
- The most common bacteria responsible is Escherichia-coli, which is found naturally in the digestive tract.
The PACA region is organizing an awareness campaign on good practices relating to the management of urinary tract infections in women aged 20 to 70.
An animated film to warn about risky behavior
Urinary tract infection in women is an extremely frequent pathology, but many patients are not sufficiently informed and accompanied in their treatment, hence the too frequent practice of self-medication or the use of prescriptions without examination. This poor management leads to regular antibiotic consumption, which consequently generates increasingly high antibiotic resistance.
A campaign aimed at the general public is thus deployed by the liberal health professionals of PACA. A poster to be displayed in medical offices, laboratories and care offices has been created, as well as an animated film to alert people to risky behavior and promote the attitude to adopt when faced with a urinary tract infection.
Raising awareness and training caregivers on these issues
In order to raise awareness and train caregivers on these issues, liberal professionals in the PACA region (Doctors, Midwives, Medical Biologists, Nurses and Pharmacists) have also developed CBU Resist’ PACA, a program to optimize the exploration and the treatment of patients with urinary tract infections.
Dr. Michel Garnier explains: “The PACA region is affected by a high consumption of antibiotics, with a rate higher than the national one, which places it at the top of the regions with the highest consumption. With CBU Resist’, the objective is to raise the awareness of both health professionals than patients on the rational use of antibiotics in the treatment of urinary tract infection. It is becoming urgent to change the bad habits adopted and to improve the management of this pathology.”
