To avoid ending up in embarrassing situations, the Shreddies brand specializing in anti-flatulence underwear is innovating by developing pants and jeans that absorb the smell of farts (even if this is good for health).
How it works ? The secret lies in the carbon fibers of the fabric present in the lining of the clothes. The material manages to encapsulate bad odors to better neutralize them. And this technological feat passes the machine washing stage very well. Once dried, the garment regains its deodorizing properties.
The concept may be joking but has been seriously tested and validated by researchers at Montfort University in Leicester in the UK. The brand prides itself on being able to trap an odor of gas that is nearly 200 times greater than normal. The only condition: behave well and do not open your legs in full degassing. The pants must be well adjusted and the thighs tight at the fateful moment.
People suffering from bloatingor intestinal disorders (irritable bowel syndrome, irritations of the colon) or even food intolerances may be interested in these clothes. They will still have to pay 140 euros for jeans and 105 euros for pajamas. A reasonable investment when you know that the lifespan of the garment is two to three years.
The scientific interest of the garment was recognized by the award of the “Look Good Feel Good” prize in 2009, issued by the association for the fight against incontinence Continence Advice.
A human being produces on average fifteen gases per day. These are in fact gastrointestinal gas from the fermentation process of decomposed material in the intestine during digestion.
