“Honorable citizens of France, Denmark needs your help. We Danes love your country. However, there is a problem: the blazing sun is dangerous for our delicate skin … ”This is how the new (surreal) prevention campaign of the National Cancer Institute in Denmark begins.
It must be said that in Denmark, skin cancer is a real scourge. Each year, 10,000 new skin cancers are diagnosed; melanoma, in particular, affects 1,800 new Danes per year, especially in young women under the age of 39. And among Danish women aged 15 to 39, the annual rate of melanoma cases currently stands at 24 per 100,000 population. By comparison, in Australia the proportion is “only” 21 cases per 100,000 population each year.
“Teach us to be as careful as you are!” “
However, we know: the number 1 factor in skin cancer is the sun. Hence the subject of the video: “We know you have a lot to do, but we humbly ask for your support: please help Danes know the harm of sun exposure. »A humorous text that targets in particular Danish tourists, many on French beaches in summer … and many also get sunburned!
“When we see a ray of sunshine, we forget all the precautionary measures and we expose ourselves for hours and hours. Teach us to be as careful as you are! Remind us to take the shade, wear a hat and sunscreen. “
The video “Help A Dane” (“Aidez un Danois”, in French) has been produced for France, Italy, Spain and Thailand. An effective means that reminds us that, if the sun is pleasant, it is also dangerous for health …
