Action Contre la Faim is launching an operation with restaurants in Ile-de-France aimed at combating undernutrition in the world.
Everyone at the restaurant to… fight against hunger in the world. It may sound a little paradoxical, but by filling your stomach, you could help, to your degree, some of the 800 million hungry people on the planet. Action Against Hunger is launching this Friday an unprecedented operation in partnership with restaurants in Ile-de-France and great chefs.
“While currently, 20 million people in East Africa and Yemen are threatened by famine, restaurant owners are getting involved with Action Against Hunger through Operation Une Part en Plus”, specifies the NGO press release.
Solidarity meals
The operation, launched on World Hunger Day for a period of six weeks, will be repeated every year. It consists of collecting donations to fight against famine and malnutrition through an original initiative.
“The restaurant owners who are partners in the operation will offer their customers a dish from their menu, the price of which will be increased by one or two euros, or the possibility of adding a free donation to their bill. These funds will then be donated to Action contre la Faim ”.
30 participating restaurants
More than thirty chefs responded to support the operation, including some major culinary names. Guillaume Sanchez, Thibault Sombardier, Mathieu Moity, Simone Tondo, Stéphane Jégo or even Charles Compagnon are among the participants. “From the biggest Parisian kitchens to neighborhood neo-bistros, everyone is committed to educating their customers about the fight against undernutrition in the world”.
The operation will be launched on Friday at the “Food Market”, the Belleville market-canteen which will be fully united that evening. The usual restaurateurs as well as the partner chefs will come to cook dishes at low prices in the street, and will donate part of their recipes to Une Part en Plus.
