Finally arrived at your vacation spot, you unpack your belongings and there comes the tragedy: you forgot your facial treatment at home. Luckily you thought of body moisturizer, this should do the trick. But is it really such a good idea? “Contrary to popular belief, it is quite possible“, indicates Nina Roos, dermatologist in Paris.
Nevertheless, it is important to know and keep in mind that body creams are not specifically formulated for the needs of the face. This is not dangerous in itself, but most of the time, no eye tolerance test has been carried out for this type of cream. They can therefore be irritating to the eyes.
A temporary fix
These creams also do not have the same advantages as a specific face product: absence of treating active ingredients (anti-aging, anti-acne, anti-dark spots, etc.), absence of sunscreen, mattifying active ingredients, etc. “It should also be noted that they are not as moisturizing as facial treatments, and tend to penetrate the skin less well.“, continues the dermatologist.
Body creams can therefore be a good troubleshooting solution (temporary), especially during holidays or when you have a small budget, but their texture is rarely pleasant on a daily basis. For those who do not want to multiply the tubes of cream at home, there are multi-purpose face and body creams which are ideal for dry and atopic skin.
