The clay absorbs
In case of very watery stools, this is the remedy to drink. The clay has a strong absorption power, it protects the intestinal mucosa by forming like a bandage, and it normalizes the transit, perhaps even by capturing the microbes and draining them for evacuation. Dilute 1 sachet or 1 teaspoon of green clay in a glass of water, let stand and drink only cloudy water (leave the clay at the bottom of the glass). Twice a day, and stop as soon as the stools normalize (do not overdo it).
Herbal teas heal
Dried blueberry berries, rich in tannins, treat all types of gastric diseases: viral in winter, or bacterial. Prepare a herbal tea (1 tablespoon for 1 cup of water, boiled for 3 minutes then infused for 10 minutes) and drink 2 or 3 cups a day. To vary the pleasures, you can put the berries in tea. For winter gastros due to viruses, opt for an herbal tea of agrimony flowers (1 tablespoon for 1 cup). This plant is an antidiarrhoeal, which heals the mucous membranes and has, moreover, an antiviral action. Two cups a day
Carrots and rice stop diarrhea
Our grandmothers were right to prepare carrot puree as soon as the children or grandchildren had diarrhea! Rich in sugar, pectin and mucilage, carrots have a regulatory function on digestion and are a powerful antidiarrhoeal. In addition, they provide mineral salts, which compensates for those eliminated during each bowel movement. And they also promote healing of the mucous membranes. Whether prepared mashed or in small slices, carrots are just as effective. They just need to be well cooked. Rice is also a good anti-diarrhea. Eat white rice and put this advice from yesteryear into practice: drink the cooking water, which is rich in starch (1 to 2 glasses per day). Overdrive effect!
Yoghurts restore flora
From the onset of diarrhea, take a course of natural yoghurt: at least 3 per day. Yoghurts are very rich in living ferments (1 billion living bacteria per pot!), And they will help your intestinal flora to be reconstituted more quickly. In addition, they contain 90% water (100 ml per jar), which also contributes to hydration.
Did you know ?
For the record, yogurt made from ferments from the Pasteur Institute was first sold in pharmacies on prescription, as a “healthy product for people suffering from intestinal infections”.
The super efficient quince
Rich in pectin, this ancient fruit which is gradually reappearing on the shelves, is also excellent to overcome diarrhea. To consume in compote, jelly or quince paste. In season, make a decoction.
Recipe :
• Finely cut a quince.
• Boil 1 L of water with 50 g of sugar and let reduce by half.
• Swallow 3 to 4 tablespoons every hour, and your rapid transit should subside quickly.
Ginger for vomiting
To fight against these inconveniences, bet on fresh ginger, in herbal tea.
Recipe :
• Grate a small piece of fresh ginger.
• Put 1 level teaspoonful in the equivalent of a cup of boiling water.
• Cover and let steep for 10 minutes.
You can also suck on a piece of fresh ginger or keep candied ginger in your mouth.
Lemon balm for painful spasms
Prepare an infusion of this antispasmodic plant.
Recipe :
• Put 1 tablespoon of lemon balm leaves in 1 liter of water.
• Let boil for 10 minutes.
• Sugar, and drink regularly during the day.
• If you also have nausea, add 1 tablespoon of Roman chamomile flowers to your infusion.
At the table we play it safe
For the first two or even three days, it’s best to avoid anything that could irritate your already battered gut. Eliminate foods rich in fiber: no raw vegetables, no cooked vegetables (except our good cooked carrots!), No dried vegetables, no wholemeal bread, no cereals for breakfast, no raw fruits (except bananas) . Also stop the milk. When your transit improves, gradually reintroduce these foods.
However, drink small amounts throughout the day to avoid dehydration. You should absorb at least 1.5 l of water, herbal tea, broth …, even, ideally, 2 L per day, as long as you have watery stools. Good tip: in 1 liter of water, add 6 teaspoons of sugar and 1 level teaspoon of salt. This acts as a rehydration solution.
