To fight against smoking among young people, the National Assembly adopted Friday, October 25, on the occasion of the first reading examination of the Social Security financing bill (PLFSS), a new public health measure . Patches, gums, lozenges, inhalers will be three times better reimbursed by Social Security for young people from 20 to 25 years old, the annual fee reimbursed from 50 to 150 euros.
The Minister of Health, Marisol Touraine, explained that “for those, around the age of 20, who wish to quit, the current withdrawal aid seemed insufficient. “She recalls that” we are entering into young tobacco “and that” young people see the risks in a very distant way and are not very receptive to prevention. “
The National Institute for Prevention and Education for Health (Inpes) recalls that “in recent years, smokingof young people has seen a worrying increase. According to this public health survey, one in six middle school students smoke daily and one in two has already experimented with cigarettes. A trend that is also recorded in 13% of sixth grade students. This situation encourages action because precocity is an important risk factor for the lasting establishment of young people in consumption and dependence. “
Midwives will also be authorized to prescribe these treatments to companions of pregnant women.
These measures must now be submitted to the Senate for final adoption.
