In 2014, the scandal of Mediator bursts. A site is then created to fight against conflicts of interest in the field of health: www.transparence.gouv.fr. However, according to a press release published this Friday, December 30, 2016, the Ministry of Health has decided to increase the influence of the latter…
Concretely, from now on, health professionals (doctors, nurses, but also user associations, hospitals, consulting organizations and the media) will have to make public their links with companies producing health products (pharmaceutical laboratories, device manufacturers medical, cosmetic companies, etc.). And any user will be able to consult the nature of these links by visiting the government site. Transparency: maximum!
Transparency in the health sector
“The amounts of the agreements signed between the actors of the health system and the manufacturers must also be published, from an amount of 10 euros” adds the Ministry of Health. Better: “the remuneration received under these agreements will also be more easily accessible by the general public”.
These declarations must be updated “every time a change occurs” in the situation of the declarant and, in any case, they will be checked each year, adds the text. All of these new provisions, provided for by the Health Law of January 26, 2016, will come into force on July 1, 2017 at the latest.
“It is up to each Internet user, each citizen, to know objectively the nature of the relationships that link the health industries to the other stakeholders in the sector”, commented Marisol Touraine in the official press release.
