Federation, multidisciplinarity and innovation are the values that shaped the organization of this new congress, at the initiative of the 4 fundamental players in French oncology, namely La Société Française du Cancer, EUROCANCER, UNICANCER and the Fédération Hospitalière de France.
The first edition will take place June 24 and 25 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris.
Oncology has become, over the years, more and more complex and players in oncology disciplines are faced with a multiplicity of necessary knowledge. This is why the organizations representing the oncology community involved on a daily basis in the care of patients and in clinical research have decided to federate and propose to bring together all the public and private players in the discipline during a meeting. annual reference congress, under the aegis of the French Cancer Society. The SFC Congress will present up-to-date updates on the major issues facing the scientific and medical community and requiring high-level didactic education. As Professor Michel Marty, President of the Société Française du Cancer, declares: “There is strength in novelty, to prepare this program, the Scientific Committee met attentively every month, scrupulously analyzing the inventory, inaugurating strategies, strengthening the multidisciplinarity of the sessions. Already today, it is difficult to practice without understanding the instruments and concepts. It is this challenge that we want to shake for all researchers, health professionals, organizers, groups associations united so that we manage to incubate our experiences. It is from this Congress that true multidisciplinarity will emerge. Preparing for a first congress is always an exciting and difficult experience. I hope that the efforts made by all will result in a dynamic and attractive congress ”
A common ambition: to unite the community
“The more than a century old Société Française du Cancer (SFC) has as mission to help pass, as quickly as possible, the discoveries of fundamental research towards clinical applications, through training and information actions, in particular through the ‘organization of congresses for researchers and physicians “said Dr Annick Harel-Bellan, former President of the SFC, while stressing that” it is in this perspective that, for many years, the SFC has been associated with EUROCANCER, an event which brought together several thousand participants and in which were organized, in particular, fundamental research sessions.
For Professor Josy Reiffers, President of UNICANCER, another major player which brings together the 20 Centers for the fight against cancer in France, “the SFC Congress, by bringing together the players in French oncology, represents a new space for exchange. on their work. In particular, it allows the French oncology community to exist as a scientific community, to debate progress and innovations, and to advance the fight against cancer ”. UNICANCER Research Director Christian Cailliot said: “We want to bring together research and care around the same national event, which was less the case in France than in other countries (…) we are on the right track. to make it the great national cancer conference “.
Finally, Professor Olivier Chinot for the Fédération Hospitalière de France (FHF) underlines: “access to care and knowledge in oncology is a challenge and a duty for the FHF”. In the dynamics of the Cancer Plans, the need to bring to the knowledge of all, professionals and users, the advances in research and the evolution of patient care, is an imperative which must mobilize all actors at the national level. .
