Despite all the campaigns of prevention, of sensitization and the bans ordered by the Ministry of Health, cigarettes (not electronics, the one with nicotine) still have a bright future ahead.
French smokers come up against a major obstacle when it comes to satisfying their desire to smoke: the price. Indeed, in France, to date, a packet of cigarettes costs on average 6.50 â ?? ¬ is as much as a pizza or a paperback book (which is more harmful). And this cost increases steadily : in July 2013, cigarettes increased by another 30 centsâ ?? ¦
But this price is far from the same in all the countries of Europe: on the site www.tarif-tabac.com, one realizes in fact that in Spain, the package is on average at 3.50 € ?? ¬, and in Andorraâ ?? ¦ less than 2 euros. A godsend for all smokers!
Belgium and Algeria at the head of sales
The French will increasingly buy their tobacco abroad: according to a recent study, cross-border tobacco purchases have jumped by 36% (one third) in just one year. Among the favorite countries of smokers, we find Belgium (where the package is around 5 euros) and Algeria.
In 2006, the French government attempted to curb these purchases abroad by establishing a quota of 5 cartons of cigarettes per person (i.e. 50 packs of 20 cigarettes, which makes 1000 cigarettes per person per person. travelâ ?? ¦). But in January 2014, Brussels deemed this restriction “contrary to European rules” and raised the quota to 10 cartridges: travelers will therefore be able to bring back in their suitcases up to 2000 cigarettesâ ?? ¦
