A study conducted jointly by the company Withings and Doctolib draws up a new state of health for the French population. By crossing the data on the number of general practitioners per department, the average waiting time, as well as the (anonymous) figures of the weight and blood pressure of users of Withings connected health devices, it appears that the areas that have most potentially in need of care with overweight patients Where suffering from hypertension, are also those where there are the fewest doctors.
The 3 departments most at risk
The study also shows that some departments are even more at risk than others and underlines for example that:
• The department of Saône-et-Loire has a high rate of overweight individuals (48%) and hypertension (28%) as well as more difficult access to general medicine with 16 days of waiting in mean.
• The Seine-et-Marne department is experiencing a similar situation: 51% of overweight individuals and 9 days of waiting to see a general practitioner.
• The Var has 47% of overweight individuals, 24% of hypertensive individuals and also 9 days of waiting.
Conversely, among the departments with the best indicators we find:
• The Alpes Maritimes with 3 days of waiting on average, 44% of overweight individuals and 19% of hypertensive people.
• The Yvelines department with 44% overweight people, 15% hypertensive and 4 days of waiting.
• Paris, with 38% of people overweight and 17% of hypertensive, for an average of 5 days to reach the office of the general practitioner.
