The SNOF presented this morning the new advances in ophthalmology which will make it possible to reduce waiting times while guaranteeing an efficient and secure treatment path for patients. “2018 indeed marks a turning point in terms of access to ophthalmology care with new measures that broaden cooperation between ophthalmologists and orthoptists“ underlines Dr Thierry Bour, president of SNOF.
15 days of waiting only for the renewal of glasses
2018 is the year of the implementation of a new RNO protocol (optical renewal). This protocol makes it possible, under certain conditions, to reduce the waiting times for prescriptions for glasses to 15 days, and to facilitate the patient’s care path.
For patients 6 to 15 years old:
• The child must be known to the cabinet
• Do not have any identified sight problem
• Have 10 / 10ths in both eyes
For patients aged 16 to 50 :
• The patient must be known to the practice
• Have consulted an ophthalmologist less than 5 years ago.
“But the billing modalities between ophthalmologists and orthoptists have yet to be defined. The ball is in the court of Social Security” insists the president of SNOF.
