Although discreet on this subject, Tesla is making good progress on the industrialization of the Cybertruck. Leaked photos reveal a new version of the electric pickup, closer to the series. The utility range will be capped by a version with four engines.
More than two years after its presentation with a concept car announced close to the series, the Tesla Cybertruck finally seems to become an industrial reality. Leaked photos from the Texas Gigafactory where the electric pickup will be produced reveal an evolution of the utility. The vehicle appears much closer to a production model than the previous version.
Barely redesigned design
Much of the design of the Cybertruck as we knew it until now is retained. The pick-up therefore retains a very futuristic style, all in angles and protruding edges with flat body panels, a triangular upper part seen in profile, a light strip as front lights, and a virtual absence of openings in the bodywork. But the copy in the image, unlike the previous one, has exterior mirrors and a large front wiper.
It is also based on more classic rims than the solid wheels of the concept car. The door handles, flush with the latter, are now invisible. The Cybertruck here seems less imposing than before, but its dimensions remain to be known. A digital instrument panel seems to have been added behind the Yoke steering wheel. The large central screen, which measured 17 inches diagonally on the prototype, is still there.
Four high-end engines
In November 2019, Tesla promised single-engine, twin-engine and tri-engine configurations for the Cybertruck. Just recently, brand director Elon Musk announced that the first versions produced would even be equipped with four motors and independent torque management for each wheel. No power or range figures have been revealed for this configuration.

When the model was announced, the American manufacturer had announced a range of 480 km and a price of $39,900 in the United States (about €35,300 today) for the basic version. He also mentioned a range of 800 km, a time of 2.9 s to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) and a towing capacity of 6.3 tons for the trimotor variant. No price has yet been announced for France, but it is already possible to pre-book the Cybertruck by paying a refundable deposit of €100. The leaks from this beginning of the year could augur an official presentation soon.
